Beaconsfield Services, M40 Junction 2
Beaconsfield is the M40’s southernmost service area and the first stop for drivers heading north out of London. What do you need to know before pulling in?
Where it is
Beaconsfield services is at Junction 2 of the M40, near Beaconsfield in Buckinghamshire. Unlike a service area between junctions, it is reached directly off the junction, from the A355 — the road signed for Beaconsfield, Amersham and Slough. It serves both directions of the motorway.
Leaving the services, traffic crosses the A355 to rejoin the motorway. That layout drew local concern about congestion when the site was planned.
Who runs it
The site is operated by Extra. It opened on 17 March 2009, and at the time it was described as the largest motorway service area in the United Kingdom.
