Warwick Services, M40
Warwick is the only M40 service area with separate sites for each direction, and the last stop before the M42. Which side are you on, and what will you find?
Where it is
Warwick services is on the M40 in Warwickshire, about 5 miles south-east of Warwick. The northbound site is between Junctions 12 and 13. There is a separate site on the southbound side. Unlike the M40’s other three service areas, you reach Warwick straight from the main carriageway rather than from a junction, and you can only use the site on your side of the road.

Both sites are operated by Welcome Break. Warwick opened in early 1996, the second of the M40’s four service areas to open.
What is there
- A Days Inn hotel at the northbound site.
- A KFC; the southbound site was one of the first services to have one.
- Food and shops.
Traffic past the services
The Department for Transport counted 88,881 vehicles a day between Junctions 12 and 13 in 2025. Split by direction, that is 46,487 heading towards Birmingham and 42,393 towards London. Lorries are 11.5% of traffic on this stretch, one of the highest shares on the M40.

- Heading north: Warwick is your last service area on the M40. After it, the motorway runs on past Leamington, Warwick and Henley-in-Arden to the M42.
- Heading south: it is your first stop after joining from the M42. The next is Cherwell Valley at Junction 10.
